Vokel was born with a group of friends sitting in a booth at the lobby bar in downtown St. Paul, MN. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into a serious debate regarding the trends of modern winemaking and the gaps in the marketplace. After many bottles of wine (and a few martinis) the group (made up of Minnesota born and raised Gregg Cummings, his wife Beth, and California Natives Liam McCormick and Dana von Sternberg) hatched a plan to create a boutique wine brand which focuses on creating small batch wines that excite the palate of those who actually drink wine.
